Description
We are seeking a dynamic
Senior Industrial Designer not only skilled in product design- but also has a deep passion for sculpting and a mind for the mechanical. The ideal candidate will have a natural ability to merge form with engineered solutions, creating designs that are both beautiful and technically sound. You’ll be joining a collaborative and innovative team, where curiosity is demanded and solutions often come from uncharted territories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concept Development & Design: Lead the creation of innovative product concepts, sketching and sculpting early-stage designs while balancing aesthetics, usability, and manufacturability.
- 3D Modeling & Prototyping: Use a combination of digital and physical modeling techniques to create prototypes. Your sculptural skills will play a vital role in iterating designs with a hands-on approach.
- Mechanical Integration: Work closely with engineers to ensure that designs are both functional and feasible, leveraging your mechanical intuition to solve complex problems.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with engineers, marketers, and other designers to refine concepts and execute products that meet both creative and functional goals.
- Material & Manufacturing Insight: Provide valuable input on material selection and manufacturing processes, with a particular focus on sustainability.
- Continuous Exploration: Maintain an inquisitive approach to design challenges, experimenting with new techniques, materials, and design philosophies to fuel innovation.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in industrial design, with a strong portfolio showcasing a blend of sculptural form and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient in 3D modeling software ( Rhino, Fusion 360, Blender, Keyshot or similar).
- Experience in rapid prototyping and hands-on model-making (3D printing, CNC, hand modeling, etc.).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to take concepts from ideation to execution, with a focus on both creativity and practicality.
- A curious, experimental mindset with a love for tackling complex design challenges from unconventional angles.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with designing for injection molding and die casting.
- Sculptural or artistic experience in any medium, with a portfolio demonstrating craftsmanship and innovation.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in product design.
