Your Role
The Regional Knowledge Manager is a key role that supports the information and knowledge needs of multiple leadership communities within Gensler’s Southwest region and the firm including Marketing, Practice Areas, Client Relationships, and Design & Delivery, as well as the administrative staff supporting these functions. The Regional Knowledge Manager is responsible for creating and executing a successful data strategy that makes it easier and quicker for marketing and technical design staff to leverage and search Gensler’s vast portfolio of project experience for the Southwest region – which currently consists of offices Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Diego, Phoenix, Denver and Las Vegas.
Primary responsibilities include partnering with marketing and project teams to collect, verify, organize, and retrieve key project metrics and stats used in business development collateral and for general reference. The role will be responsible for creating an environment where all staff know how to use and access the wide array of project-related information. This involves training, communications, and change management for use of Gensler’s web-based knowledge management applications, including: OpenAsset, our Digital Asset Management platform, as well as the internal KM Profile tools, proprietary platforms for managing employee client, partner, and project portfolio data.
A critical responsibility of this role will be serving as the strategic internal point of contact for curated project and people data within the region. Working closely with the Southwest region Marketing team, office and studio coordinators, Client Relationship leaders, and Firmwide teams, the Regional Knowledge Manager will lead the implementation of project portfolio data strategy across the region and advise on best practices to support the firm’s and region’s portfolio data. While the project database leverages automation, the Regional Knowledge Manger must develop an understanding for data workflows and database integrations and confirm accuracy with the project teams.
The successful candidate will be eager to create partnerships with different internal Gensler teams to help create, innovate, and streamline processes to make accessing data sets easier and more accurate. This involves proactive outreach, driving consensus, and a solid understanding of the firm’s knowledge needs and roadblocks. The candidate will also be data-driven, having skills in data querying and manipulation, understanding how data workflows build a dataset, and be able to conduct business analysis on curated datasets. Strong communication skills will be essential to drive outcomes across the region’s offices. The Regional Knowledge Manager must be an exceptional communicator, comfortable synthesizing and presenting technical concepts for internal business audiences. The Regional Knowledge Manager should be extremely well-organized, detail-oriented, flexible, confident, and personable in dealing with all levels of staff. Most importantly, he or she must be passionate about knowledge management.
What You Will Do
- Create and execute the Knowledge Management strategy for the region that connects Gensler employees to relevant and timely project data and serve as the region’s primary contact regarding people and project metrics, tools, technologies, and reporting.
- Work closely with the Firmwide Data Platform team to drive the adoption of KM Profile tool best practices in the region.
- Identify and own opportunities to innovate with People and Project data across the region.
- Support the Regional Marketing team, office and studio coordinators, and CRM leaders to identify and prioritize regional Knowledge Management needs.
- Partner with Client Relationship owners and Marketing leaders to identify new reporting and data requirements, and build custom reports, as needed.
- Own responsibility for the quality and quantity of project data and digital assets captured in Gensler’s Intranet/Digital Library, OpenAsset, and other internal online resources.
- Implement and manage processes and training so Gensler staff can support their own knowledge management needs on a self-service basis.
- Participate in weekly and monthly calls with the Firmwide Data Platform team and other regional Knowledge Managers to provide updates on data management progress, needs, etc.
- Collaborate with the Firmwide Data Platform team to develop long-term knowledge management strategy and identify gaps in our information resources and tools.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Management Information Systems, Library Sciences, Marketing, or other related field.
- Overall experience of around 5 years with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Detailed knowledge of marketing and analytics technologies.
- Ability to manipulate large data sets in Excel.
- Ability to create custom Tableau or PowerBI dashboards a plus.
- Experience with Client Relationship Management software preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills – must have the ability to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience communicating analysis and fielding questions from executive team members.
- Ability to think through complex problems, determine proper analytical processes and procedures, independently derive conclusions and present results to the team.
- Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.
- Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced ambiguous environment.
- The base salary will be estimated between $72,000 - $88,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
