Your Role
We are looking for a
Regional Design Technology Lead – Sustainability Simulations to join our SW Design Technology Team. This is a great opportunity to join a team of innovators at an organization with a global impact to contribute to world class design and a resilient future for our planet.
Reporting to the SW Region Design Technology Director, you will be leading and implementing initiatives with a focus on leveraging next generation environmental analysis simulations and workflows to empower design teams to make data driven design decisions. You will collaborate with design leaders to empower designers to incorporate computational workflows and thinking into their design processes, embedding sustainable simulations and insights to it. This will help produce innovative outcomes and allow designers to tell compelling, computationally driven sustainable design stories.
Candidates should demonstrate prolific expertise using industry-trusted simulation tools and analysis techniques to tell design stories in areas such as User Comfort and reduction of Operational & Embodied Carbon. In this role you will be expected to blend your simulation expertise with computational and generative design platforms to achieve impactful results on projects. Successful candidates should also have experience using and implementing programming languages and scripting techniques common to design authoring platforms to deliver and drive innovation in their work. Your work will create proof of concepts and provide leadership on technical direction with respect to innovative and scalable computational design and sustainable simulation solutions. The long-lasting positive effects of the practice-based solutions that you help create and introduce to the firm, will be reflected by user engagement metrics and project stories.

What You Will Do
- Create and apply computational algorithms for a variety of design problems with a focus on the intersection of computation and sustainability.
- Create partnerships with Gensler’s Climate Resilience Experts to build knowledge bridges between their domain expertise and Design Technology sustainable computation tools and platforms.
- Identify, research, recommend and implement technology simulation solutions and workflows that address needs expressed by our clients and design practitioners.
- Research and develop thoughtful responsible ways to integrate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into sustainability simulations.
- Present sophisticated concepts to non-technical audiences through storytelling, visual communication, and data-driven insights.
- Create proof-of-concept computation simulation prototypes.
- Lead formal and informal training for team members.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Building Science, Design Technology, or other relevant academic or work experience.
- 15+ years of experience with computational resilience simulations on real-world projects.
- Expert Rhino-Grasshopper User.
- Detailed knowledge and experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Ability to create and run Building Energy Models.
- Domain expertise with climate data inputs, assumptions, and terminology.
- Understanding of, and ability to use programming languages and scripting techniques in your daily work.
- Experience creating Life Cycle Carbon Assessments across multiple authoring platforms.
- Exceptional critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Must provide a portfolio in either PDF form or a link to a website portfolio. If Artificial Intelligence is utilized in creation of any significant portion of the portfolio candidate must disclose its scope of use.

- The base salary range will be estimated between $130,000 - $150,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
