Role Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager, the
Channel Marketing Manager I is responsible for supporting, and at times driving, the development and implementation of customer, brand, category and product strategies. The Channel Marketing Manager will also help to drive the achievement of budgeted topline and EBITDA goals.
This role will be based at our office in Schaumburg, Illinois reporting to our Senior Global Marketing Manager.
In This Role, You Will..
- Help develop initiatives to win new business at strategic customers through product selection, assortment strategies, and promotional ideas as well as articulation of the Fellowes Mobile unique selling proposition.
- Manage many unique projects by coordinating with a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to execute on time, on quality, and on budget. Demonstrate consistency in keeping the company, customer and consumer in mind and assessing all 3 aspects to ensure all projects meet customer and consumer expectations while ensuring strong financial performance for Fellowes.
- Pull and analyze point of sale and market data (Circana) to garner category and product insights that will help inform the new product development process and customer presentations. Further, understand how POS data can be leveraged when business questions or hypotheses are proposed. Build digestible summaries to show the team & customers how data was analyzed.
- Utilize trend and fashion research as well as technology accessory trends to guide the designers in creating new, innovative and sophisticated fashion accessories.
- With a passion for product development and design, proactively manage a large workload of creative projects at one time. Communicate feedback clearly and concisely to the Graphic Design team and Product Development team in order to ensure we are meeting critical timelines, which are typically very fast paced.
- Create high quality customer presentations with strong articulation of ideas that address customer and consumer needs. Leverage data to support fact-based selling and product sell-in strategies. Ensure that presentations are focused, clear, compelling, and error-free.
- Help interpret and glean customer/consumer insight to support the development and implementation of category and product strategies that grow profit and volume, including category direction, new product development, and product entries into new segments, pricing, and merchandizing and distribution strategies.
- Lead efforts to create pricing strategies and product ROIs that are clear, digestible, and transferable throughout the cross-functional team so that they can be easily understood.
- Utilizing clear, concise communication skills, this individual must understand the insights gathered in meetings and the next steps as they apply to the greater team. Further, this individual should involve the Senior Marketing Manager and Channel President in resource intensive decisions.
- Support strategy by providing constructive, meaningful, and timely feedback to internal graphic designers and external agencies to ensure all marketing elements enhance and leverage the brand equity with all constituents.
- Oversee the execution of specific, highly detail project tasks focused on product set up through internal and external processes and systems. Deliver on time results for projects involving packaging and communications through the execution and management of all details from start to finish.
- Be aware of key competitors' activities and their impact on the total business, as well as emerging technologies.
- Demonstrate active listening, persuasion, and negotiation skills in all aspects of managing the customer, category, and team members. Promote teamwork. Show initiative. At times, act independently to successfully manage customer and category issues to a timely close.
- Track and analyze volume, profit, and returns of new products and report with observations and appropriate plans to the Senior Marketing Manager.
- Analyze promotion and product efficiencies/effectiveness that will lead to the development and execution of sales priorities for category. Meet regularly to understand emerging marketplace trends and develop programs to address new trends. Drive profitable product placement and promotional opportunities by customer
What You Bring To The Team
- 3+ years of marketing, brand or channel management or consumer products experience, with at least 1 year in developing consumer products through product development process
- At least 1 year of experience working with category data (NPD Group, IRI, Nielsen)
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related degree and/or a combination of education and/or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred.
- Driven, hardworking, with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to proactively manage and drive numerous projects in varying stages and complexities, being able to prioritize within a often changing environment. Requires strong project management skills and detail orientation.
- Strong customer interaction skills (building relationships, social interactions, etc.)
- Ability to motivate/influence with/without authority
- Very strong analytical skills with ability to use analysis for insights and actions
- Experienced working with innovation / product development
- Category management mindset
- Highly capable presentation development & delivery
- Keep abreast of current trends (Fashion, accessories, devices, etc.)
- Able to evaluate projects that are best for company, consumer, and customer
- Highly detail oriented and organized
- Capability to work well within business processes while creating efficiencies and improvements as needed
- Business acumen / savvy with a problem solving mentality
