The Transportation Analyst will support parcel and freight managers by monitoring our Freight Auditor to ensure the best billing outcomes for our shipping. Works as a go-between with internal and external partners to resolve discrepancies. Attention to detail will be key to success in ensuring accurate billing and reporting overall costs and success to management.
About This Opportunity
- Manipulate data into understandable summaries to inform decisions
- Monitor Freight bills for invoice errors and misbilling
- Understanding business rules (audit and general ledger coding) as well as details related to the processing of the invoices, understand the reasons behind the coding to identify problems and resolve.
- Work exceptions from Freight Audit and Pay provider to correct department coding errors on shipments
- Interact with freight carriers (domestic and international), internal stakeholders, and third-party audit companies to resolve billing inquiries, errors, and/or process issues.
- Partner with Finance team and assist with remittance inquires for payments
- Provide estimated parcel and freight shipping costs to internal stakeholders
- Assists with new transportation provider RFQs
- Pulls ad hoc reports to validate historical shipping and inventory data
- Builds and vets reports for business/operations users
- Partner with 3PL warehouses to ensure all data is transmitting and shipping as expected
- Partner with Vendor Management Team to improve provider compliance
- Compile and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure the Freight Audit and Payment activity process is measured and improve results.
- Collaborate with transportation operations teams to ensure the accuracy of freight rates, terms, and rules utilized by the third party to process and pay invoices, and to investigate any invoicing inquiries.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Finance, Logistics or Business/Analytics preferred)
- Experience with third party freight auditor preferred
- Experience reviewing LTL/Home Delivery/Parcel invoices
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills, experience rating parcel and freight shipments for cost
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- ERP system knowledge (NetSuite) a plus
- SQL query experience a plus
