Position Summary
This position is a paid internship. The Intern role is designed to provide a well-rounded educational experience while working collaboratively with the team. Intern is a detail-oriented, entry level role. Interns assist the team on large, complex projects and small projects. Intern will be included in direct client interface as appropriate. They assist the internal team to maintain consistent results for client standards, procedures and protocol but also work independently on tasks without oversight. They aid in the development of projects, by providing research, field verification, product specifications, vendor communications, as well as the development of working presentation documents and client deliverables. They need to feel comfortable building and maintaining successful and fruitful relationships with diverse co-workers and build a track record of successful projects.
Responsibilities:
- Work with team to document clear project requirements, deliverables and deadlines to ensure expectations are fulfilled
- Work closely with vendor partners to gather and clarify detailed information and develop customer mock-ups
- Assist in developing customer presentations with an understanding of visual representation and graphic standards to create effective communication tools
- Follow processes and documentation to achieve clear communication
- Engage in detail-driven research for solutions based on client requirements
- Develop knowledge of commercial furnishings and equipment based on customer-specific standards
- Research cost saving opportunities for clients
- Develop an appreciation for design principles to all activities: function, balance, alignment, proportion, materiality, etc.
- Apply a strong attention to detail to all documentation and processes, ensuring accurate and complete information
Skills/Qualifications (Intern)
- Must be comfortable working independently when needed
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite required, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- AutoCAD or similar drafting software experience preferred
- Basic understanding of floorplans and drawing sets preferred
- Basic knowledge of commercial furnishings and equipment preferred
- Basic knowledge of building infrastructure, construction vocabulary and building codes preferred
- Basic knowledge of sustainability principles, certifications and best practices
Education & Experience (Intern)
- Must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from accredited university
- Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or Project Management preferred
- Minimum of 1 year workplace experience preferred
- 0-2 years of interior design experience preferred
