Global Furniture Group seeks a dynamic, highly motivated Production Manager to join our Allwood Products Ltd team. This position works 100% on-site at our 180 Viceroy Road, Concord, Ontario location.
About the Job:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager is accountable for planning, organizing and directing department operations. The incumbent will complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results and supporting continuous improvement activities on a daily basis. The Production Manager will also communicate with customers on regular basis to provide feedback on order status as required.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all safety policies and rules are followed.
- Know and understand the appropriate sections of the Green book - Occupational Health and Safety Act definitions and regulations.
- Provide results-oriented leadership that drives continuous improvement by following and implementing LEAN Manufacturing.
- Schedules daily line production to meet customer demand and monitor productivity changes.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers on regular basis to ensure PDNs are issued for delayed orders and priority orders are expedited.
- Ensure that Management is informed daily about safety, quality, quantity, personnel, and any other issues that require immediate attention.
- Ensure that operators use standard work and associated tools to meet Production, Quality, Health and Safety standards.
- Monitors team performance on an ongoing basis.
- Initiate employee counseling and disciplinary action if necessary.
- Assesses and participate in yearly Performance Appraisal Reviews on all direct reports.
- Ensure that training requirements for each departmental employee are identified and plans are in place to close gaps.
- Assists in the recruitment, development, and retention of high performing individuals and builds a positive work environment.
- Self-motivated with a high level of drive, energy, persistence and initiative.
- Ability to lead by example and motivate a diverse workforce in a fast-paced work environment.
- Positive and professional attitude with a hands-on and team-oriented work style.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to build direct relationships with staff. A strong team player able to support and work collaboratively with individuals from other functional areas within the company.
- Ensures 5S standards are enforced & establishes team to embrace continuous improvement.
- Assist in the process of Job Task Analysis and Hazard Identification for equipment.
- Responds to complaints (NCR’s) & discrepancy issues in a timely manner.
- Undertake projects as assigned by the Director of Operations to improve plant processes (e.g. implementation of LEAN manufacturing practices).
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5 to 7 years of Managerial experience working in a Canadian manufacturing environment.
- College diploma in Engineering or Business Administration is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (Written and Verbal).
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously.
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
- Industry experience is an asset (wood working, case goods, office furniture) or equivalent in a light assembly orientated industry.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Computer literate.
