INTERIOR DESIGNER III
The individual in this role helps build better, more sustainable communities by developing conceptual interior design plans that evenly balance client visions, needs, wants and budgets.
THE INTERIOR DESIGNER III AT CPL
The Interior Designer III performs analyses, prepares plans, produces designs and compiles documentation for projects relating to interiors . The Interior Designer III works on a multitude of project types and alongside a variety of teams project managers . He/she must have a deep understanding of building design, fire and life-safety, energy codes, standards, and guidelines. In this position, you will contribute to projects or moderate size and complexity.
Additionally, coordination of schedules and project requirements is essential daily in this position. The designer should be proficient in Revit as he/she will be responsible for working with the Owner and Project Manager to develop renderings and presentations. Maintaining a high-level design on every project, this position also helps mentor and train less experienced designers.
What You Bring To The Table
- You earned a BS in interior design – or a related field – from an accredited institution
- You have at least six (6) years of industry experience
Additional applicable certifications and degrees are a major plus
Ability to prioritize critical tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude and highly accountable
- Plan on preparing for NCIDQ certification
- If applicable, become a Certified Interior Designer
- Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) required
- Increase knowledge and practice of sustainability
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
- Basic understanding of building codes and inspection regulations related to Interiors
CORE DUTIES
- Understand and implement public health and safety codes, including accessibility and environmental guidelines
- Develop program and space planning during the schematic design and development processes
- Participate in field measurements, verifications and scanning of existing conditions
- Model 3D floor and reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, detailing, schedules and finish documents
- Select FF&E to align with project requirements
- Develop physical and virtual presentations, including but not limited to renderings and video walkthroughs
- Endeavor to become familiar with manufacturer's sales representatives, maintain the interiors library and sample ordering
- Attend client meetings as necessary
- Perform construction administration and punch list review

The rate for this position generally ranges between $27-41/hr . This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors , including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
