Job Summary:
The role of the Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client and any architectural direction set forth into cohesive interior design solutions. This individual will be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with the willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An Interior Designer is expected to work collaboratively with the architectural team, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of the interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials, palette, and specifications. This leadership role requires oversight, guidance, and mentoring of others.
This position can be located in any of our three offices, Boise Idaho, Gilbert Arizona, or Bend Oregon
Responsibilities
General:
- Assist in identifying, recruiting, and interviewing interior design staff at all levels.
- Express the philosophy of the work with appropriate vocabulary.
- Participate in a project team setting.
- Responsible for projects of above average complexity and size.
- Conceptualize interior design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client’s requirements, budget, and program.
- Development of interior design through sketches, in 3D, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent and communicate to the project team, and the client.
- Present abstract ideas to the client and client representatives.
- Interpret and apply interior materials and finishes per building code, type requirements, and ADA guidelines.
- Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) where applicable to ensure compatibility with the interior design intent.
- Implement sustainable design principles into interior materials and finishes.
- Ensure that interior design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.
- Evaluate and apply minimum ADA requirements and space planning requirements determined by the Architectural staff.
- Exhibit maturity and cultural awareness internally and externally.
- Evaluate the quality of interior design work and activities, and ensure a high level of interior design quality throughout the firm.
- Participate in performance reviews including setting of job goals.
Marketing and Community Engagement:
- Support Business Development activities, including marketing proposals, interviews, and, conference attendance, etc.
Internal Leadership:
- Advocate for learning, stewardship, and craft.
- Inspire creativity, critical thought, and design excellence both internally and externally.
- Act as a mentor, teacher, and coach with the goal of growing and guiding others through their careers.
- Participate in a project team setting and lead the team.
- Engage staff in dialogue on various interior design tasks, ensure the design/work process is followed, and influence the usage of technological tools
Office Success:
- Foster collaboration between offices while promoting and providing design vision.
- Develop interior design in accordance with cost parameters.
- Check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage a team to meet project budget and schedule.
- Inspire confidence and garner trust and respect with the project team and with clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design, interior architecture is required.
- Minimum of five years' experience.
