Position Overview
CNC Home & Design is seeking a qualified and experienced Interior Designer to support the CEO/Principal Designer in a contract position. This role supports design projects from initial launch through completion, and is responsible for management, coordination, and support throughout the entire project, while ensuring compliance with project timelines and budgets. The Interior Designer is responsible for executing project deliverables while exceeding clients’ satisfaction and providing an exceptional client experience.

Essential Role Responsibilities
This job description accurately represents the current primary duties of the Interior Designer position, but may be adapted as necessary to meet the needs of the business. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work. Other duties may be assigned and/or required.
Management, Coordination & Support of Design Projects
- Set up client project in project management software (MyDoma Studio)
- Attend Project Kick-Off Meeting to document measurements and project specifications based on the scope of work.
- Oversee development of design concept and design/mood boards to ensure initial project concept meets client and company needs and expectations.
- Review, edit, and approve project layouts, renderings, and/or elevations.
- Source products, furnishings, materials, fixtures, accessories, and finishes for client projects while ensuring materials are within project budget and profit margin specifications.
- Properly track project expenses and keep project budget and specifications updated.
- Create project proposals and request/receive purchase orders from vendors.
- Presentation development and preparation of project deliverables while adhering to overall project schedule.
- Attend client design presentations while documenting decisions, project notes and approvals.
- Expedite and track all product and materials purchases, including shipping and delivery timelines and communicate updates.
- Track product and materials stock status and follow up with vendors on product status updates.
- Resource alternative items to resolve backordered or discontinued items while notifying clients of item status, and providing recommended or proposed viable alternate options for selection.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical, design, and installation challenges or issues in a proactive, professional manner.
- Act as client, vendor, and general contractor liaison.
- Contribute and/or draft weekly client project updates to ensure clear, consistent, and timely communication between company and clients throughout design project.
- Provide exceptional client/customer service throughout the design process.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, on schedule, within budget, and within profit margins.
- Assist onsite with and/or oversee client appointments, deliveries, installations, site visits, and trade appointments to ensure projects are executed correctly and completely.
- Responsibilities may include moving furniture and unboxing items. Candidate must be physically able to perform various installation project requirements such as lifting, standing for long periods, using a ladder, and other physical duties.
- Participate in new client consultation appointments and documenting notes, photos, and assistance with compiling client consultation reports.
- Assist with project photo shoots as needed.
- Bring new ideas, methodologies, process improvements, and new clients/projects to the company.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Interior Design degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the interior design or architecture industry or client-facing service position required.
- 3+ years of project management experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office, G-Suite, and Asana required.
- Must currently live within the greater Cleveland, OH area.
- Travel for client consultations, meetings, and deliveries in and around the Cleveland area where available/applicable. Contractor is responsible for providing their own reliable source of transportation.
- Will need access to a reliable laptop and Wi-Fi to use our web-based systems and platforms.
- Proficiency in design and industry software (MyDoma Studio, AutoCAD, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop) a plus.
- Must have design sensibility that understands and lends itself to our signature modern coastal/traditional style and functionality.
Position Specifications
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor, partially remote, work from home, part-time position not to exceed 20 hours per week.
Additional travel responsibilities required for client, trade, and vendor appointments as needed. Weekly hours, appointments, and schedule may vary depending on company’s work load and current projects.
