GENERAL PURPOSE
The Competitive Analyst supports all three segments of our global business—Herman Miller, Knoll, and our broader channels. Utilizing data-driven insights, this role aids strategic decisions related to pricing, product positioning, and market competitiveness. Through tracking competitor activities, analyzing market trends, and identifying emerging opportunities, the Competitive Analyst strengthens our competitive advantage and drives business growth.
Essential Functions
Competitor & Market Analysis
- Conduct in-depth analysis of competitors' products, services, pricing strategies, and market positioning to assess strengths, weaknesses, and market share across global regions.
- Monitor competitor activities, including product launches and marketing campaigns, to identify potential threats and opportunities for growth.
- Gather and synthesize market intelligence from industry reports, research, and customer feedback to identify key trends, opportunities, and market dynamics.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to develop competitive positioning tools and pricing maps that support strategic decisions.
Pricing Insights
- Track pricing trends and competitor adjustments, providing insights to inform pricing strategies across all business segments.
- Analyze discount trends and provide detailed reports on market demand and competitor actions.
- Review earnings reports and financial statements to support pricing and market analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Support
- Partner with teams across the organization to integrate competitive insights into strategic planning and execution processes, ensuring alignment across all segments.
- Support the development of strategic initiatives, go-to-market strategies, and business plans using competitive and market intelligence.
- Continuously refine data-gathering methodologies and analysis tools to improve the efficiency and accuracy of competitive insights.
Communication & Reporting
- Regularly communicate competitive findings, market trends, and actionable insights through presentations and reports to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Present data and insights clearly and concisely, emphasizing their strategic implications for the business.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive dynamics, and best practices in market analysis and competitive intelligence.
- Continuously refine and enhance methodologies, tools, and processes for competitive analysis and market intelligence gathering.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in competitive analysis, market research, or business analysis in a global context.
Skills And Abilities
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present insights clearly to different audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and business intelligence tools.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across global teams.
