Overview
Empire Office is currently seeking a highly skilled and organized
Onsite Furniture Project Manager to provide oversight for client-required “day two move add changes” involving furniture adjustments/content relocation. Our client is a large healthcare provider with multiple locations throughout the NY - Metro Area which requires constant upgrades be made to their spaces. This individual will be responsible for managing client requests from inception to occupation while ensuring that each project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in both project/move management and hands-on furniture installation, with a strong ability to lead a team and interact with clients. Job function would require a 5-day work week onsite – (Monday through Friday) with occasional after-hours coverage as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Lead, oversee, and coordinate all phases of the furniture installation process, including planning, scheduling, procurement, and on-site management, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and client specifications.
- Meet and discuss potential projects with clients, designers, and or end user groups to gain a full understanding of each project’s goals.
- Facilitate the development of budgets for the requested projects to allow the client teams approval process to be implemented.
- Advise the necessary parties of potential time frames when approvals are received.
- Coordinate and facilitate schedules for overall activities – per project – noting start and completion times for all potential projects.
- Create key deliverable milestone dates for all projects to be followed from design to order placement to installation to client move to final punch out.
- Monitor project timelines for edits and changes.
- Develop detailed on-site activity schedules for the individual projects which will be a key component to managing on site resources.
- Monitor the progress of the project, addressing any issues or delays promptly and proactively.
- Note and properly communicate product – installation issues (damaged / defective product) that may arise and could cause an unforeseen delay in the project.
- Prepare and review installation plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure all furniture is delivered and installed as per the design intent.
- Conduct site assessments of project areas when necessary to determine what requirements need to be met throughout any particular installation.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing updates on project statuses either through email and or in person.
- Ensure all safety regulations and company (client) guidelines are followed while teams are on site.
Installation Management:
- Oversee a team of installers to ensure an efficient and accurate assembly or placement of furniture in accordance with the design / client specifications.
- Oversee a team of installers to ensure a proper code of conduct is followed while on client property.
- Perform quality checks to ensure installations meet the company’s standards and client expectations.
- Ensure proper handling and installation of furniture, to verify manufacturer guidelines are followed.
- Manages and oversee proper handling is provided when furniture items are to be relocated (new or existing).
- Manage on-site storage and organization of furniture during the installation phase.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior installers, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and best practices.
Client Interaction:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the overall planning process, installation phase or move to address any questions and concerns.
- Provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service.
- Ensure all installations are completed to the client’s satisfaction and handle any post-installation issues that arise.
- Have oversight and knowledge of the functionality for new products that are being provided in order to educate the end users – provide settings / usage included in the workspace.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines during the installation process.
- Ensure all team members follow proper safety protocols and procedures.
- Regularly inspect tools, equipment, and installation areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications

- Proven experience in furniture installation, project / move management, or related fields.
- Salary: $80,000–$120,000, commensurate with experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design plans, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with various furniture installation techniques and tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot on-site issues.
- Familiarity with commercial furniture and installation standards.
- Familiarity of furniture integration into commercial spaces – power and data entry
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality installations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in OSHA and/or project management (e.g., PMP or similar).
- Experience with CAD, Procore, and/or Hedberg software or other project management tools.
- Prior experience in leading installation teams in a fast-paced environment
