What We Need
We are looking for a Category Merchandising Manager to support the Open Plan Category to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team.
The Category Merchandising Manager is responsible for overseeing all merchandising activities in the designated category, collaborating with senior leadership for comprehensive business performance evaluations, and guiding marketing initiatives. This role also focuses on executing portfolio management strategies aligned with business objectives to foster sustainable strategic growth and create long-term value.
What You Will Do
- Partners with the Senior Merchandising Manager to develop and communicate category strategy, sales targets, and margin goals for the designated area of responsibility.
- Oversees product lifecycle by managing cross-functional relationships, setting product pricing, and leading project management efforts to ensure timely product launches.
- Develops and communicates comprehensive category strategic visions and goals, considering customer and marketplace perspectives to drive profitable unit sales growth.
- Ensures merchandise strategies and assortment plans effectively meet business objectives and align with customer demands.
- Establishes marketing programs, rebates, pricing structures, and terms across all channels. Demonstrates strong relationship-building skills and adaptable negotiation tactics with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attend trade shows to gather insights and prepares detailed trip recaps emphasizing product development priorities and opportunities.
- Partners with Channel Marketing to develop robust marketing plans that elevate the brand, increase customer traffic, and yield favorable return on investment. Manages customer and channel impact during assortment changes, product discontinuations, price adjustments, and promotional activities.
- Provides strategic guidance to Product Marketing throughout product development stages and oversees decisions regarding product discontinuations.
- Collaborates closely with the Demand Planner to accurately forecast product categories and allocate available capacity among customers efficiently.
- Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.
What You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience required; 5 years’ relevant experience preferred.
