Global Furniture Group seeks a dynamic, highly skilled and motivated Quality Control Inspector to join our Allwood Products Ltd team. The position is 100% onsite at our 180 Viceroy Road, Concord location. The Quality Control Inspector will report to the QA & EHS Manager and is responsible for ensuring all products manufactured at Allwood Products Ltd are in accordance with the customer’s requirements.
The Quality Control Inspector will liaise with internal departments, raw material suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure that the quality of materials fully comply with Allwood and customer’s Quality Standards and will assure that corrective action is effectively carried out. The Quality Control Inspector will monitor Quality System, ensuring all elements of the Allwood Quality System are adequate and have been develop, documented and effectively implemented with the ISO 9001 International Quality Standard.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Assurance:
- Perform daily/ monthly quality inspections and document results.
- Analyze and resolve all internal quality issues in laminate, frames assembly and paint/stain areas.
- Record and review customer complaints (U.S. & Canada). Discuss, analyze and resolve issues with Global sales team and document as per ISO standard. Escalate to Allwood / Global Engineering departments with corrective action recommendations as required.
- Complete root cause analysis of complaints and coordinate with concerned department through emails/ ECR/ ECN in BOM’s, cutlists, drawings, CNC programs and all incorrect documents to avoid future mistakes.
- Communicate with subcontractors regarding quality issues and helping them to avoid future mistakes.
- Compare samples and first offs of subcontractors with Allwood drawings and test for fit and function.
- Communicate all NCRs to respective suppliers and inform Allwood purchasing/ finance teams for next steps.
- Check all replacement and special quote orders, first offs, GAF and showroom orders ensuring accuracy prior to shipping.
- Coordinate with Purchasing Department to complete Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) as requested.
- Discuss and resolve any discrepancies found in raw materials from suppliers.
- Issue and document corrective actions and monitor until issues is closed.
- Coordinate return of NCRs to Allwood for disposal or reuse.
- Visit local Global customers to resolve quality/ installation concerns.
- Address internal hardware/ material problems with lead hand/ supervisors.
- Coordinate with purchasing to integrate the best raw materials and supplies.
- Maintain weight list of raw product requests from Global and Allwood Products Ltd.
- Match any new stain sample received from clients. Complete, document and follow up until signed sample is received.
ISO Auditing/Environmental:
- Assist in preparation and completion of all documentation required for ISO 9001:2015 and BIFMA Certification.
- Coordinate with Global Test Lab to calibrate all measuring instruments annually as per ISO standard manual.
- Assist in preparation and distribution of internal communication.
- Assist in measurement of noise levels.
- Assist in completion of Internal ISO Auditing as per Allwood Products Ltd’s internal auditing schedule.
General Duties/Health & Safety:
- Assist in completion of monthly JHSC workplace inspection.
- Maintain and replenish First Aid supplies as required.
- Perform other task as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years Quality Control experience.
- Minimum two (2) years in office furniture manufacturing.
- Formal Quality Assurance or technical training at recognized institution.
- Working knowledge of the ISO 9001 Quality Standard.
- Well-developed interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to use e-mail, internet, word, excel, windows.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with team members across departments.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
