Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Commodity Material Planner to join our team in Holland, MI.
As a Commodity Material Planner, You Will
Perform all functions needed to ensure lowest total cost of purchased materials and services for multiple sites to balance objectives of maximum product availability with strategic inventory plans. May participate in negotiations and commodity teams to implement proactive procurement philosophies (i.e., Just In Time [JIT], Consignment, Reverse Auctions, and vendor managed), strategies, policies, and procedures for successful integration into multiple business plans across various manufacturing sites.
Essential Functions
- Plans and schedules procurement activities for assigned commodity, utilizing advanced planning tools in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to model, simulate, and release optimized material plans to organization to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Defines replenishment methods (i.e., Make To Order [MTO], Make To Stock [MTS], Configure To Order [CTO], and safety stock) in fully integrated system environment to ensure effective delivery to customer.
- Expedites orders through supply chain to ensure perfect execution.
- Maintains database for supplier and product data as required. Coordinates data, process, or product change requests. Creates and implements plan for changes, including cutover activities, testing, and deployment, to ensure successful outcome.
- Coordinates transportation between plants, transit to customers, receiving, and work centers to meet business needs.
- Creates forecasts and forecast modeling to better manage production outcomes.
- Initiates actions to prevent occurrence of nonconformance relating to product, process, and systems to ensure perfect execution.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

- Ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
Ideally, You Have Also Demonstrated The Following
- Just In Time (JIT) concepts, theory of constraints, and lean philosophy.
- Knowledge of and practical application of ERP system(s).
- Ability to apply Material Resource Planning and heuristics concepts and manage advanced planning concepts, including forecasting methodologies.
- Ability to apply sourcing and alternate sourcing, Kan-ban control cycles, and re-order points to ensure perfect execution of materials and end product.
- Ability to analyze and establish master data parameters to support optimized production.
- Understanding of full supply chain integration touch points, from order acceptance to delivery, with utilization of transportation management.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self, and affect short term and some long term business goals.
- Understanding of Systems, Applications, Processes (SAP) Advanced Planning Optimization (APO) production data structure (Production Planning/Detail Scheduling [PPDS]) and integration between Enterprise Core Component (ECC) and APO preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or equivalent in relevant field of study
- Education Equivalency: Associate Degree plus 2 years related exp OR 4 years related exp
